Music: Million Voices - Wyclef Jean, OST Hotel Rwanda

I am as always swamped with work. Clearly falling behind in a lot of maths homework but for once, I don't have much to worry about Speech yet. My finals are 2 weeks from now so I still have time to slack and bum around.

I know I'm not as lucky as some students who are enjoying their holidays but I will get there soon :)

My English essay this time around is based on the genocide that occurred in Rwanda in the year 1994. My teacher made us watch 2 movies that was produced based on the massacre that happened there. They were Shooting Dogs or also known as Behind These Gates and Hotel Rwanda. Prior to watching these movies, I knew nothing about the history of Rwanda. Heck call me an ignorant teenager but I didn't even know of the existence of the country Rwanda.

The movies were a real eye opener for me. It made me see the bigger picture and some scenes in the movies made me feel their pain as well. I highly recommend you guys to watch these movies. Although it may get a little graphic at certain areas of the movie, I assure you it's made that way to better capture the reality of the entire incident.

Despite watching such powerful movies, I felt as though my essay was barely able to capture the essence of what I felt. I sat down for a good one hour in a half conscious state typing utter nonsense. I feel like I have so much more to say, to put type out but my mind can hardly form anything that was comprehensible. What a letdown. Thankfully, it's just my first draft. I plan to put more effort into it because I know this essay deserves more.

Best thing that happened to me today was that I bought Garden State! So can't wait to indulge myself in it. I love watching good movies :)

Going to have another long day tomorrow so I'll just leave you with the ending line from my essay, just because.

As much as we have seen how deeds of mankind channeled by anger is so inhuman, we should know that the functions of mankind channeled by love and compassion is even stronger.
