It's really ironic how much I hate the media at times but am still going to pursue a career in the very field. I can't help but think that all the relationships in my life will end up in a love/hate fashion. How exciting.
Anyway, today I'm here to talk about my experience being in the Greek system so far. I feel like so many people have terrible misconceptions of what is. Contrary to popular belief, being in a sorority does not mean automatically mean you're a wild crazy party slut.
I agree that socializing is a huge part of Greek life but it doesn't just start and end there. Tonight at meeting, we recognized and awarded girls for their academic achievements. I look at the girls sitting on the Exec board of my chapter and I have the greatest respect for them. They are beautiful, intelligent, compassionate and independent women who have so much potential and leadership in them. I can only strive to achieve what they have.
It shocks me that so many people choose to ignore the academic part of being in a sorority and how much emphasis we actually put on it. The girls in my chapter are constantly having to maintain their grades in order to be part of the organization and most of us work hard for it. I'm so proud to be a part of something so special.
Yes of course we play hard. But at the same time, we work hard too!
AXO Spring 2011!
